Today was an exhausting workday, made worse by a painful migraine. The weather in Saigon, and across Vietnam lately, has been incredibly hot, leaving me longing for cooler days.

My mind drifted back to my onsite days in Romania. It is a beautiful country with a wonderfully cool climate. It was there that I touched snow for the very first time in my life—a truly magical milestone for someone born and raised in the tropics.

That chapter in Romania was also a major turning point in my career. It was the exact period when I transitioned from an Individual Contributor (IC) into an Engineering Manager. That shift kicked off a chaotic but exciting era of endless flights across different countries and continents.

Despite the intense work and the challenges of stepping into leadership, it remains a beautiful memory. Looking back from this sweltering heat, those cool European days feel like a refreshing reminder of how far the journey has taken me.
