The Silent Guardian
My wife's family moved to the city, leaving their countryside house empty under the care of a neighbor. Everyone left, except for a loyal dog. He stayed behind, partly because the new city apartment does not allow pets, and partly because he grew up in that old house since he was a puppy.

He remains there, guarding the house for us. His only joy is the occasional times when we return to visit him, and play with him for a few days. Almost five years have passed, and he is still there, fulfilling his duty to protect our home, which is also his home.
The loyalty of a dog is perhaps the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in this life.
